Neighborhood Watch
These and other events not only can happen but they have happened and you can be notified or help to notify your neighbors by becoming involved with the Neighborhood Watch program. Have your email address added to the OFE Neighborhood Watch email list. The email list is used to notify OFE homeowners of matters of timely importance relevant to OFE. With winter upon us, you can be one of the helpful neighbors that notifies the OFE trustees of a road too slippery to travel on so that the trustees can send the information out on the OFE Neighborhood Watch email list. Neighborhood Watch only works if you get involved.
If you would have your name/email address added to the OFE Neighborhood Watch email list, please email OFE Trustee Les Shenberg with "OFE Neighborhood Watch" in the subject line and your information in the body of the email. Les' email can also be found on the OFE web site's contact page at . If you have a suggestion as to how to improve the OFE Neighborhood Watch program, the OFE trustees would like to hear from you.
Home Security It is always a good idea to check the security of your home. Click this link for a Home Security Survey which makes a good review on basic security for your home.
Tree Trimming - If a resident would like to have an existing tree trimmed or removed, they can call Saint Louis County Service Request Line at 314-615-8538. The Department will trim trees located between the street and sidewalk on the street side for branches that are less than fifteen feet above the pavement and on the sidewalk side for branches less than 7 feet above the sidewalk. If the roots are pushing up the sidewalk, the Department will either cut the roots or remove the trees. After Old Farm Estates was developed, the Saint Louis County "rule" changed such that trees are prohibited in the "tree lawn", the area between the street and the sidewalk. There is no ordinance required because the tree lawn is public right of way and is maintained by Saint Louis County. Previously developers were required to plant two trees in the tree lawn for a new subdivision. These trees have become a significant maintenance problem and new trees are not allowed.
Streets and Sidewalks - If a resident has spottted a problem with the streets or sidewalks they should call Saint Louis County at 314-615-8538.
Animal Control - Feral cats, racoons, and other animal problems should be handled by Saint Louis Animal Control at 314-726-6655. One thing everyone should be aware of is that feeding any outside animal leads to nothing but problems for the animals and for you.
Ordinance Guidebook - Saint Louis County has a guidebook that is an excellent reference on the Missouri laws for the area in OFE. Go to this link to get the information Ordinance Guidebook.
Trash Service Saint Louis County has gone to trash districts. This means the OFE residents get trash service through Veolia (567-1800) which was the lowest bidder for the OFE district. Specifics on the Veolia service can be found on the back of their statement. Scans of information from Veolia can be found at these links.
OFE Pool Telephone Number for the pool is 314-317-9277
OFE Street Lights - AmerenUE OFE street lights are rented from AmerenUE. If there is anything wrong with a street light, please call 314-342-1000 and report the problem along with the street light number which should be on the street light.
